트럼프 카드의 무늬를 손톱과 칼끝으로 긁어내어 숫자만 남겼습니다.
The patterns of trump cards were scratched away with fingernails and the tip of a knife, leaving only the numbers.

투명한 필름의 테두리를 따라 선을 한 줄씩 그린 후 여러 장을 겹쳤습니다. 반복적으로 재현된 직선은 점차 일그러지고, 수없이 겹쳐지면서 처음을 알아볼 수 없게 됩니다.
Along the edge of a transparent film, lines were drawn one at a time, and many sheets were layered. The repeatedly reproduced straight line gradually warps — layered countless times, the first line can no longer be recognized.

캔버스의 위쪽 모서리를 따라 선을 반복해서 모사했습니다. 완벽했던 직선은 손의 미세한 떨림과 우연, 실수에 의해 조금씩 물결치기 시작합니다. 다른 시간과 장소에서 그린 두 캔버스의 맨 마지막 선이 딱 맞아 떨어집니다.
Lines were traced repeatedly along the top edge of the canvas. The once-perfect straight line begins to ripple, little by little, through the hand's minute tremors, chance, and error. The very last lines of two canvases, drawn at different times and in different places, meet exactly.

캔버스 위에 젯소를 반복해서 칠합니다. 젯소는 밑칠용 재료로, 작품을 시작하기 전에 칠하는 물감입니다. 시작되기 이전의 상태에 머무르려고 애쓰는 이 작업은 어느새 시계바늘처럼 돌아가고 결국 평면도 입체도 아닌 무언가가 됩니다.
Gesso is applied to the canvas over and over. Gesso is a priming material — the paint applied before a work begins. Striving to remain in the state before beginning, the work comes to turn like the hands of a clock, and in the end becomes something neither flat nor sculptural.

원의 정의는 한 점에서 일정한 거리에 있는 점들의 집합입니다. 원을 하나는 중심에서 밖으로, 다른 하나는 가장자리에서 안으로 반복해서 따라 그렸습니다. 도형을 손으로 반복해서 따라 그리다보면 수학적 정의와 결과물이 서로 빗나가게 됩니다. 같은 원이라도 어디서 시작해서 어느 방향으로 가는지에 따라 자취가 달라집니다.
A circle is defined as the set of points at a fixed distance from a single point. One circle was traced repeatedly from the center outward, the other from the edge inward. Tracing a figure by hand, again and again, the mathematical definition and the result begin to miss each other. Even the same circle leaves a different trace depending on where you start and which way you go.
